Cardamom is commonly known as the "Queen of Spice" and is native to Southern India and Sri Lanka. It's oil is steam distilled from the seeds of the Elettaria cardamomum plant and can be used as a flavouring agent in foods and drinks such as teas. It has a warm, spicy and woody aroma with strong grounding and calming properties. It can reduce drowsiness and improve concentration, and is also reported to have mild aphrodisiac properties.
